Construction Jobs up in January, Mining Continues Slide

Construction added 18,000 jobs in January, according to data published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The biggest gains were in the residential specialty trade sector, accounting for 12,600 of the added jobs.

Mining employment continued to slide, losing 7,000 jobs in the last month, according to the BLS. Mining employment has fallen 146,000 since its peak in September 2014. The biggest losses were in the mining support sector with 5,000 jobs lost.
