Why Sport Redi Mix Trusts the Strength of Eagle Crusher
Meet Sport Redi Mix
The recycled aggregate market has grown significantly over the last several years and Sport Redi Mix’s crushing division has grown right along with it. Entering the recycled aggregate and asphalt market in 2012 with the purchase of a local sand pit, Eagle Crusher’s heavy-duty construction and durable UltraMax® 1200 portable impactor plants have been instrumental in the expansion of their business.
Dan Malloch, yard foreman, was sold on Eagle Crusher from the very beginning, according to Patti Herges, Sport Redi Mix general manager.
Sport Redi Mix’s recycled aggregate and asphalt division currently operates two crushing yards and a mobile, 365 days-a-year, custom crushing crew, with three Eagle Crusher 1200 portable impactor plants, crushing an average of 1,250 tons of concrete a day, and 2,250 average tons of asphalt daily.
As for the quality of the Eagle Crusher product, Sport Redi Mix is an Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT)-approved material provider. All three of their Eagle Crusher plants have an IDOT producer number.
Sport Redi Mix recycled aggregate and asphalt division supplies concrete and construction contractors with crushed recycled aggregate and asphalt products including RCA-06 crushed concrete, oversize (1-1/2-inch to 3-inch) crushed concrete, recycled drainage rock (a brick and concrete combo), 3/8-inch to 5/8-inch pea gravel (browns) river rock, 3/4-inch minus crushed asphalt, and oversize crushed asphalt (2-inch plus).
Meet Horton Supply Company
Sport Redi Mix’s local Eagle Crusher authorized dealer, Horton Supply Company, has been a guiding light in the expansive world of crushing equipment. Sport Redi Mix’s relationship with Horton Supply Company began in 2019 when they were in the market for local parts for their ’91 Eagle Crusher. Herges, says “with Horton Supply, one phone call to Pat Biggs, Regional Parts Manager, we get what we need quickly. Sometimes Pat even makes the three-hour drive to deliver us the parts to get us back up and running quickly.”
Why Eagle Crusher?
In 2014, Sport Redi Mix decided they needed an additional crusher to meet their demand. The managing owners attended CONEXPO-CON/AGG and purchased a new UltraMax® 1200-25 CC right off the show floor.
As virgin aggregate material pricing dramatically increased year after year and customers realized recycled aggregates are a quality product at reasonable price – the demand grew. When Herges asked for a third crushing plant in 2025, upper management wasn’t sure demand was there. To prove it, Herges pre-booked an entire year of work and got her crusher—this time from Horton Supply Company. Cody Edwards, their Horton Supply Company equipment sales representative, provided Sport Redi Mix a comparison quote. The clincher? The three plants specified and quoted were all Eagle Crusher models, at Sport Redi Mix’s request.
“We knew exactly what we wanted,” Herges stated, “The Eagle Crusher 1200 is built with easy access to where you have to get to things. With other plants it’s hard to get to where you need to get to work on things or replace parts. These plants have hard lives and need maintenance and parts from time to time. With Horton, one phone call to Pat Biggs, Parts Territory Manager, we get what we need quickly. Sometimes Pat even makes the three-hour drive to deliver us the parts to get us back up and running fast.”
As for getting up and running, Herges said, “The ease of setting up and tearing down our 1200 plants is unsurpassed. We can move in and set up in a day and a half. It doesn’t take four guys and three days to drop off and get set up. Our plants get running quickly and making money.”

“In the end,” Herges stated, “Eagle Crusher plants are strong and reliable machines.”
