Study: FAST Act Likely to Increase Aggregate Demand

Rocks

According to a new study commissioned by the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA), the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act will likely cause an increase in aggregate material demand over the next five years.

The $305 billion act provides funding to build, repair and maintain roads, highways and bridges across the country through 2020.

According to the study, the FAST Act will increase aggregate material demand by 114 million metric tons through 2020.

The report also projects that western, southeastern and some northeastern states will see the highest growth in aggregate material demand.
